Mary Frances is a CPA with all sorts of specialized training, but don’t let that fool you. She’s an entrepreneur and small business owner at heart. Growing up in her dad’s hardware store Mary learned how small businesses work from the inside out. After a summer internship with his CPA, she decided to pursue that career herself and to specialize in taxation. Mary started her career at a “Big 4” firm and worked with many privately owned companies doing both tax consulting and tax compliance.

Eventually the entrepreneur in her could not be contained and she took a break from her accounting career to bootstrap her own business – an online gluten free cooking school. That business eventually allowed her family the freedom to travel around the country by RV for a couple of years.

Mary Frances eventually found her way back to accounting and tax work, but this time her focus was on small businesses and start-ups. One of her greatest strengths is that she can bring you all of the knowledge and experience of a CPA from the largest, world-wide firms, but make it work in the context of a small business. She can help you grow your profits, reduce your taxes and create processes that reduce the frustration of the financial side of your business.

Mary is the leader of Witten Financial’s bookkeeping, accounting and tax services. She lives in Saint Louis, Missouri with her husband and four children. She reads whenever possible and is still crafting gluten free recipes for her family.
